"Seasons as fluid forms" - Audio Visual instillation Gijon, Spain 2014

Arduino, LED Strips, MDF, Electrical Cable, sand, black paint

Seasons as Fluid Forms was an audio visual instillation that explored the relationship different communities in Gijon have with the local Port, their coastal habitat and the boundaries between the two. The piece was informed by the predicted change in landscape and storm surges in the area of Gijon. Through a series of interviews with local community groups I identified key concerns in relation to the expansion of the port and the rise in sea levels and frequency of storms. Data accessible through Spanish science research was used to program a series of LED's that would project through three 7ft wooden structures. The audio track was composed in collaboration with an Asturian Sound artist who gathered audio from the Gijon Port and two Irish artists who collected corresponding audio in Dublin Port.
